Content Your course will help you expand your knowledge of Spanish culture and develop your linguistic skills. You will focus on a range of historical and contemporary topics which will further develop your understanding of Spain and Latin American countries. You will also study Spanish literature and film, which will encourage you to keep up to date with current affairs. During the course you will have the opportunity to travel to Spain, to improve your linguistic skills and knowledge of Spanish culture. SPANISH A LEVEL An A Level in a modern foreign language would be beneficial to a great majority of courses at university and would be particularly helpful if you choose to spend a year abroad. Modern languages can lead to a variety of exciting careers such as translating, interpreting, finance, law, sales and marketing, engineering, tourism, leisure, public sector, United Nations and European Union, media, teaching (primary and secondary), and linguistics. Additionally, the knowledge of a foreign language can allow you to pursue any career at an international level. Assessment You will be assessed on your listening, reading, writing, speaking and grammar manipulation through translation. As a well-respected subject it opens doors to a range of career paths including politics, teaching, law and anthropology. It can lead to several career paths including social work, nursing, teaching, policing, the civil service and legal professions. Content Your Sociology course will develop your critical thinking skills, encourage you to evaluate sociological thinking and change the way you see the world and your place within it. You will consider Sociology in the context of education, families and households, crime and deviance, beliefs in society, theory and research methods. You will also conduct an in-depth analysis of sociological theories and reflect on your own experience of the social world, applying it to your study of society.
