A LEVEL An A Level in Chemistry is a healthy engaging subject that can lead you onto various carers such as engineering, pharmaceuticals, medical research or teaching. Once you are trained in your chosen field, your qualification will open up a whole new world of possibilities. You could go on to become a forensic scientist, chemical engineer, pharmacologist or even a chemistry teacher depending on which course you choose to study at university. A sixth form centre for excellence 13 BUSINESS A LEVEL An A Level in Business is a highly engaging subject that can be the starting point to a range of careers - from accountancy, law, human resources, marketing, or business management, to teaching, politics, or journalism. Content Business is a dynamic and interesting subject. Throughout this two-year course, you will enhance your commercial awareness and develop a wide range of business-related analytical and entrepreneurial skills. You will investigate different types of organisations, identify investment opportunities, and evaluate how markets affect business performance. You are going to learn how to understand real-world decision-making processes and critically evaluate the external and internal influences on businesses. The topics you study include marketing and people, managing business activities, business decisions, and strategies. Entry Requirements Please see the entry requirements on page 11. Assessment Your work will be assessed by an exam. Content If you have a natural curiosity about the world and a willingness to search for answers, then our A Level in Chemistry will teach you how to find those answers through laboratory investigations and independent research. Your interest and enthusiasm for Chemistry will develop a genuine appreciation of how science works. Building on the knowledge you gained at GCSE, you will learn more about how and why reactions happen. You shall study topics such as: atoms, elements, bonding, energetics, organic chemistry, and the development of the periodic table. Chemistry studies reactions and substances from a biological and physical perspective. In order to consolidate your studies, you will learn how to handle data, think critically, and apply your knowledge and processes to unfamiliar contexts.
