A sixth form centre for excellence 9 Learning Resources Centre Our Learning Resources Centre (LRC) is a silent, independent study area, managed by a team of specialist staff, with extended opening hours to support you. It has computer, printing and scanning facilities for your use. It also provides access to individual study guides for each subject, more than 10,000 books, digital resources and online learning materials, specialist journals, periodicals and newspapers, and an audio-visual room. Facilities at CTK St Mary’s • Two media suites with digital editing and recording facilities. • A recording studio – including mixing, editing and recording facilities. • A suite of specialist art, design and technology rooms, including two networked suites of Apple Mac computers. • Four fully equipped science laboratories. • Numerous dedicated student support areas. • Eight networked computer rooms. • A Chaplaincy area including a Chapel and Chapel common room. • A fitness suite and sports teaching area with modern changing rooms. • A modern canteen. Sustainability At Christ the King Sixth Forms, we prioritise environmental strategies and sustainability. Our initiatives include reducing our carbon footprint, promoting ecofriendly practices, and leading environmental projects to raise awareness in our community. We received the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award with Distinction for our efforts. Our Sustainability Development Project focuses on providing training facilities in green STEM areas, featuring solar panel and heat pump technology. Our students’ winning idea in the IKEA X Let’s Go Zero Competition involves creating an Eco Hub as a workspace for students, the local community, and schools to enhance sustainability understanding and application. It includes: • A new £2 million indoor sports hall • An open, spacious sixth form in leafy Sidcup surrounded by playing fields. Many of our students achieve team and individual success both at county and international level. We host regular visits by accomplished athletes.
