CTK St Mary’s is a Catholic Sixth Form where the values of honesty, integrity and mutual respect are central to our work. We welcome students from every faith, and none. Our students, who come from a wide range of backgrounds, are united by our strong sense of community and their individual desire to achieve. You will find here a warm, friendly and supportive community where you will be truly valued as an individual. Parent feedback Parents are encouraged to be involved. Formal reports are produced five times a year and we host regular parents’ evenings so that you and your family can discuss your progress, ask questions and respond to your tutor’s comments. Dress code at St Mary’s When you join CTK St Mary’s, you and your fellow students will be expected to wear business-like attire. Plain black, dark grey, navy blue or dark brown formal, business-like suits are required (tailored trouser or skirt). A jacket is optional – a plain dark jumper or cardigan can be worn as an alternative. Coloured shirts or blouses are acceptable if suitable for a working environment. This is intended to support you in making appropriate choices as you prepare for work or the next stage of your education journey. Some subjects may require you to wear clothing relating to your subject – for example sports students will wear a CTK tracksuit. Students with additional needs For students with additional needs, or where English is not your first language, we have a dedicated learning support area with experienced staff. Once your application has been reviewed, we will contact you to discuss your needs so that we can make all reasonable adjustments to help you succeed. Entry criteria for CTK St Mary’s A LEVELS • Minimum five GCSEs at grade 9-5 • English and Maths at minimum grade 5 • To study A Level Maths, English, Sciences or French, you must have a grade 6 in these subjects at GCSE “My teachers have given me a lot of pastoral and academic support. The atmosphere of co-operation in the classroom and my relationship with my peers makes it easier to learn and ask questions. I have learnt to ask for extra work and to have the drive and assurance necessary to be a high achiever. My grades are far higher than I anticipated, and I think is a great achievement!” Nelly studied Business at Warwick University after achieving A Levels in French, Psychology and Business BTEC LEVEL 3 PROFESSIONAL GRADUATE PROGRAMME (PGP) • Four GCSEs at grades 9-4, including Maths and English • Minimum grade 4-4 in the Sciences for Applied Science If you show determination, hard work and a desire to succeed, yet you don’t yet meet these entry requirements, we have a range of programmes to help you excel in our nurturing and aspirational environment. Please see page 30 for other routes. T LEVELS CTK St Mary’s has been selected to offer T Levels in Education and Childcare, Health and Business. T Levels are a brand-new, 2-year qualification that will give you a head start towards the career you want. T Levels have been designed in partnership with businesses and employers to give you the skills and knowledge to succeed in the workplace. See pages 26-27.
