Maths (Statistics)

A Level

A Level Statistics develops essential skills in interpreting and analysing data, preparing you for both higher education and a wide range of careers where data literacy is increasingly important. Ideal for students who enjoy mathematical problem-solving without focusing on pure mathematics, it complements subjects such as Biology, Psychology, Geography, Business Studies and Economics, with an emphasis on applying statistical techniques to real-world contexts and interpreting results effectively.

CONTENT

In A Level Statistics, you will explore a range of statistical distributions, including Binomial, Poisson and Normal distributions, and develop skills in conditional probability using Bayes’ Theorem. You will also learn how to design and conduct statistical investigations, applying a variety of hypothesis tests such as Chi-Squared, t-tests, ANOVA and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test.

In addition, you will study confidence intervals and learn how to interpret and communicate statistical findings in a range of real-world contexts.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum five GCSEs at grade 9-5 (including English).
  • You will also need GCSE Maths at grades 9-6.
